Cathy Gerson Studios

Nestled next to Mineral Creek, in the mountains of western North Carolina, Cathy Gerson Studios (CGS) is both studio and home for Cathy Gerson. CGS is  in a T-Shirt Factory; that is, a commercial building that was built to make T-Shirts for the 1982 Knoxville World’s Fair.  Today it has been renovated into a modern residential and commercial purpose – and has a stupendous view overlooking the rushing creek, bringing inspiration and tranquility.

Started in 1973 as Ceramic Design, Cathy has been producing magical and wonderful tile creations for decades. Her work adorns businesses, private homes and public spaces – on walls, back splashes, sinks and counter tops.

Her whimsical Classic Car and Motorcycle tile wall murals – are individual sculptures that reward car and motorcycle buffs.

Totems – small tile sculptures that have special and personal qualities that attract attention and comment.

Healthcare facilities have custom wall murals that have been designed and manufactured by CGS as commissions.

Private parties have commissioned Cathy for unique tile wall murals and for architectural installation. CGS has done floors, counter tops and back splashes (and a tub).
